World No. 4 and 2008 Cincinnati Masters finalist Novak Djokovic looks for career-win No. 3 over Gilles Simon Friday afternoon. The 22-year-old enters into their quarterfinal-round clash with a slender 2-1 edge in the head-to-head series. Djokovic has recorded back-to-back hard-court victories over Simon, including a semifinals win during his run to the championships in Dubai earlier this season. The Frenchman posted his only match-win to date at the 2008 tournament in Marseille, narrowly defeating the Serb in the round of 16, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.
The World No. 4 aims to make his fifth appearance in a Masters Series semifinal in 2009. Djokovic finished among the final four in Miami, Monte Carlo, Rome and Madrid. The 22-year-old advanced to contest the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters championship match in 2008 before falling to World No. 2 Andy Murray, 6-7, 6-7.
